The course consists of classroom lecture (review), discussions, equipment demonstrations, test point (TP) checks, and “hands-on” troubleshooting techniques. Many actual plant problems are used to provide experience in troubleshooting common system failures. Additionally the students use plant specific schematics and procedures for SSPS troubleshooting.
Course Schedule:
- Day one is typically lectures and discussions of the SSPS overview, SSPS Block Diagram, and interfacing to other plant systems.
- Day 2 Detailed circuitry and hands-on troubleshooting problems are performed by class participants on Day Two on the protection circuits.
- Day 3 Day Three specifically is troubleshooting multiplexing circuits (indication).
- Day 4 Day Four concentrates on SSPS Testing problems and troubleshooting.
- Day 5 Day five is SSPS review and written exam. An optional one hour troubleshooting exam (or performance exam) can be administered for qualification purposes.
