NUCLEAR BASIC for ENGINEERS (NBE) 1. Fundamentals Training Programs

NUCLEAR BASIC for ENGINEERS (NBE) 1. Fundamentals Training Programs

About this course

After the course they will have learnt the theoretical basis of fission process and the sources of decay heat. Reactor theory will be explained introducing the various types of nuclear reactors, their functions, and the principles and history behind their operation. Through the lesson, students will gain a solid understanding of how nuclear energy is harnessed and controlled.

In addition to nuclear physics, the course will cover the main mechanical and electrical components essential to reactor functionality. Students will learn about the design and operation of critical reactor components such as pumps, valves, or turbines. The basis of electrical circuits and systems that support reactor operations, including power generation and distribution, will also be examined. By the end of the two-days course, students will have a well-rounded knowledge of both the physical principles and the technological components that support modern nuclear reactors:

– DAY 1:

  • Instructor session (remote).
  • NBE (self-study): Basic Nuclear Physics and Reactor Theory.

– DAY 2:

  • NBE (self-study): Mechanical Components.
  • NBE (self-study): Electrical Components.
  • Instructor session (remote).
