INCORE INSTRUMENTATION SYSTEM. I&C Training Programs

INCORE INSTRUMENTATION SYSTEM. I&C Training Programs

About this course

This course focuses on those components that, if not properly maintained, can result in unacceptable radiation doses and drive systems that are not fully operational. These include the drive motor assemblies, the path transfer devices and the sealing table. Also available for the practical training of students are the control panels normally located in the control room.

The course will explain the purpose and operation of moving core detectors and core output thermocouples. (At most plants, reactor engineering personnel operate this equipment and I&C personnel repair the system.)

Course Schedule:

  • Purpose of Incore Instrumentation System; description of IIS hardware and auxiliary equipment; running an incore flux map.
  • Functional description of position and current readout circuits; functional description of flux mapping drive circuits.
  • Detailed description of drive circuits and readout equipment; schematic tracing exercises; position and current readout.
  • Maintenance of containment equipment; drive motors; path transfer devices; seal table components.
  • Maintenance procedures and troubleshooting exercises.
