Introduction
The nuclear landscape in Belgium and the Netherlands is evolving, creating a growing demand for competent professionals who can safely manage nuclear applications and drive research in optimization and innovation. To address this need, both countries are collaborating to establish joint initiatives that ensures a well-equipped workforce for the future.
As part of this effort, this BeNe Summer School connects future professionals with experts in the field, providing essential knowledge on nuclear sciences, industry applications, advanced study opportunities, and career prospects.
It also fosters direct engagement with experienced professionals, offering insights into nuclear operations.
Objectives
The overall purpose of this summer school is to introduce participants to the nuclear industry, to inform Bachelor’s and Master’s graduates in sciences and engineering on general nuclear topics or to further specialize in nuclear sciences through advanced study programs, such as master-after-master specializations or doctoral research. There will be a focus on practical applications in addition to a theoretical framework and, above all, an opportunity to get acquainted with current employees and their daily tasks and experiences.
The summer school will contain site-visits, and will show the participants interesting career opportunities in the nuclear industry. The program also creates the opportunity for the participants to meet nuclear experts from industry, research organizations and governmental institutes, as well as other students in the nuclear field and junior members of the Dutch and Belgian Nuclear Society.
This combination makes this one-week School and ideal preparation for a future job in the nuclear sector.
